Hong Kong Hotels | Outer Islands Tour
Add value to your visit by taking the Outer Islands Tour during your stay in Hong Kong
Take time away from the city of Hong Kong and discover the peace and tranquillity of the outlying islands on this tour of Cheung Chau and Lantau by private Chinese junk and coach. You can see an entirely different Hong Kong, more closely related to the sea and to nature on your tour of these two islands, as well as discovering more about the culture of China and the history of Hong Kong as you explore.
After setting sail from Hong Kong harbour, your first stop is on Cheung Chau Island. Close to Kowloon in terms of distance, there is a million miles between the bustle and modernity of the city and pleasant twisting alleyways and fishing harbours of Cheung Chau. You will have time to explore the town and market as well as taking to the water in a traditional Kaido boat in order to experience the sights (and smells) of a traditional fishing harbour. One of the highlights of the island is the beautiful Pak Tai Temple dedicated to the Chinese Emperor who once saved the villagers from a plague that decimated the region.
Upon leaving this idyllic, quiet island your tour continues to Silvermine Bay on Lantau Island. Here you will board a coach that will take you round some of the island's main attractions. You will stop off in the fishing village of Tai O, get the chance to soak up the sun on Cheung Sha beach, and visit the mountains where you can explore the many buildings of the Po Lin monastery and climb up to the giant Bronze Buddha who's beatific gaze over the city of Hong Kong is said to guarantee peace and tranquillity to the inhabitants.
